Born in Laguna Beach,
California, Mark
Haskins started his
career studying design
at the Art Center
College of Design in
Pasadena, California.
After working for
Reebok designing
soccer shoes for four
years, he joined Vans
in a move back to
his native southern
California. He now
lives in Aliso Viejo
with his wife Kristen
and son Lars and, in a
departure from action
sports, he now enjoys
triathlons. Mark has
been with Vans for
over ten years and he is
currently the director
of design for footwear
and equipment. He
combines managerial
experience with passion
and talent for shoe
design. The overall
concept of the shoe
is what he seems to
enjoy the most, with
meticulous attention
to detail. His designs
always tend toward
straightforwardness,
ease of understanding,
and accessibility.
