Céline Kamara-Gouge,
one of Touch Luxe’s
founding members,
bases her collections on
a model of femininity
that presents audacity,
readiness, and
contemporaneousness.
Formed at the Duperré
School of Arts of Paris,
along with Patricia
Forgeal and Franck
Albou, Céline had in
mind to transfer a
style to fashion that
wouldn’t obey any
rules. Designing for
today’s city girls, all
of the items sport
adorned noble fabrics
and playful  nishes for
a style that embodies
the term “sexy casual.
This approach has
contributed to their
success and their
garments have been
featured in many major
fashion magazines.
Among her in uences
we  nd such diverse
gures as Katy Perry,
Liv Taylor, Kelis, Asia
Argento, Laura Smet,
and Michelle Obama.

171 INSPIRATION. The departure point
of a collection is most of the time chosen at
random. It can result from a simple thought
in time or just from the sight of a passerby
who inspires me and makes the link
between all the elements I already had in
mind. I already know the guiding lines for
the next summer collection theme thanks to
a detail on a pair of customized jeans I saw
on a guy during a Paris night out.

USES. When I design I
systematically think of two type of women.
On one hand, I think of my own friends:
young city women in their thirties who
represent through their diversity the
brands clientele. On the other, I think of
those I call my “icons,” female artists whom
I admire both their work and their looks. I
rarely think of myself when I am drawing.

D
EVELOPING A COLLECTION. You have to see it
in its entirety, whether through a catwalk, in a
agship store, or in a commercial show room.
A garment taken out of its context simply
becomes a cute sweater or a beautiful dress.
The truth is that each garment echoes another
piece of the collection while the references and
all-over patterns underline the main themes.
