A KEEN RUNNER, Philip Hanson ‘Phil’ Knight competed for the University of Oregon’s track and field team in the late 1950s. His coach was Bill Bowerman; famously demanding and inspirational, Bowerman constantly experimented with different training techniques and fitness regimes.
