Experts agree that this is the most important step of the learning process. This is the point at which participants examine their experience systematically. Facilitation methods may include a combination of discussion, observer's reports, instrumentation (questionnaires and surveys), and feedback and analysis. Without your planning and guidance, trainees cannot learn adequately. To ensure success, you should do the following things:

  • Choose your role in the presentation. Will you act as leader, participant, or observer?

  • Decide how trainees will participate: individually, in small groups, or as an entire group?

  • Give participants a focus. Should you focus on specific behaviors, attitudes, or problems?
