Exercises are structured learning experiences that help to enhance the training atmosphere. They are versatile instruments that can be used in a variety of ways.

Exercises accommodate a wide range of formats and purposes—short or long, simple or complex. They are conducted by the trainer, the group, or both. Exercises can be oriented either toward individuals or groups (of any size). Some exercises involve physical movement while others focus on discussion or writing, but they do not all require supporting materials. They can be made into games by adding competition.
