The 4G system is a development initiative based on the currently deployed 2G/3G infrastructure, enabling seamless integration to emerging 4G access technologies. The path toward 4G networks should be incorporated with a number of critical trends to network integration for successful interoperability. Multiple Input Multiple Output/Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiple Access (MIMO/OFDMA)-based air interface for beyond 3G systems are called 4G systems such as Long Term Evolution (LTE), Ultra Mobile Broadband (UMB), Mobile WiMAX (Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access), or Wireless Broadband (WiBro).
