The MMC itself serves as a framework. Within that framework are various administrative tools called consoles. In particular, the MMC provides a unified interface for administrative tools. This means that after you learn the structure of one tool, you will be able to apply that knowledge to the rest, which are going to follow suit (within limitations imposed by the differences in the function of the various tools).
