Many good project engineers suffer from the "get the best delivery" and the "buy the cheapest one because they are all the same" syndromes and have lost sight of installing the best possible system, given the constraints of technical correctness, time, and budget. It is, therefore, not uncommon for a project engineer to determine the applicability of variable speed drive technology through expediency rather than on a technical basis.
