Summary

In this chapter, we've taken a hands-on approach to backing up our database. We examined user-managed backups, both online and offline. We've introduced the RMAN tool and used it to perform many types of backups, including full, incremental, tablespace-level, and compressed. We've explored numerous RMAN commands that can be used to perform backup maintenance. Finally, we've examined ways to automate our backups. However, backups are really only useful for one thing – database recoveries. In our next chapter, we'll go hands-on again—this time with database recoveries
