The next observation we’ll make is that the scales in this example are logarithmic, covering all values from less than once in ten years to greater than ten times per year with just five boxes. This has advantages and disadvantages – a main disadvantage being that people sometimes have to reminded that the scale isn’t linear. Nonetheless, we’ve found it to be an effective way to cover a very broad continuum of values.
