Accelerate Experimentation with MVPs

Cover of Lean Enterprise

This section on the Mininum Viable Product concept is very relevant to us and worth reading.

This is the only definition of MVP I’ve seen that includes ‘delightful’ along with feasible, valuable and usable - an essential addition for companies like ours who want to delight their customers and are worried that MVP implies otherwise.

The authors’ other recommendation of note, that is particularly relevant, is that the team agree on what they mean when they use the term MVP because it can be interpreted two different ways - 1) as the minimum functionality your customers would find valuable (what you should ship) or 2) a test or pre-release version that you would throw away after you gained the desired learning from it.
