Direct attached storage
As the name suggests, these are the storage devices that are directly connected to the servers using the host bus. These are enclosures containing a number of disks within. Direct attached storage (DAS) systems offer fault-tolerance features and are able to "hot swap" failed disks and rebuild disks from parity on other disks.
