Tainted thinking means that some business professionals equate how they do their jobs to the software they use. And software changes much more frequently than business processes change, causing business professionals to continuously rethink business processes. For example, if Bob explains the order-to-cash process with phrases such as "First I log into System XYZ and then click here to check credit terms," and System XYZ is replaced with another system, the business process may remain the same, yet from Bob's view it will most certainly change.
