But mechanical movable type was also invented, built, and mainstreamed by other humans. Gutenberg was part of a wealthy family. Some people in power certainly did not like the advance of literacy, but many certainly did. You can't say that one man's invention, by its own strength, overcame the shackles of tyranny. Many people supported it.
