Yes. the almost universally accepted story, at least here in the West, was the "trade agreements" were a good thing...yet they may have only been good for the corporate conglomerates who were promoting them. What if I start to think of corporations as soul-less machines? I do not accept that they are people. I will get a bumper sticker: "Corporations are not people."
