Hence, Agile project management can be achieved by replacing a Gantt chart with a cumulative flow diagram and a plan for the release of inventory into the system.
The existing PMI/ISO model for project management is obsolete. It does not lend itself to a world of constant change and shortening business cycles. Attempts to improve the estimation of software and reduce the variance in order to better improve the results from the traditional model of project management are doomed to failure because of the balancing loop in the system, which creates more paperwork and lengthens lead times.
