To make things happen as smoothly as possible, we actually recommend a series of plans, or five types of transition plans:
- A Management Plan to define who will pay attention to day-to-day business, and who will be at least temporarily reassigned to lead, plan, and manage the change
- An Action Plan to identify transition activities, and then to sequence, time, and assign responsibility for the implementation of the design choices
- A Stakeholder Commitment Plan to determine who needs to be committed to the design, where those people are now, and where they need to be
- An Evaluation Plan to ensure that the design is doing what was intended and to watch that design drift doesn't set ...
