Peter Collingridge to Join Safari Books Online as VP of Product Development
Digital and mobile publishing innovator to lead product vision
Safari® Books Online (www.safaribooksonline.com), the on-demand digital learning library for technology, digital media and business professionals, today announced it has hired Peter Collingridge as VP of product development. Peter will be defining and executing the product strategy for all of Safari Books Online, leading a global product development team. Peter will also sit on the company’s Executive Committee.

Collingridge began his work in the publishing world at independent publisher Canongate Books in 1997. He spearheaded the firm’s move into digital in 1998 by setting up and running a community website, pioneering the creation of digital marketing techniques for books. In 2005, he set up Apt Studio, a strategic design and marketing consultancy that advised publishers on digital technology and strategy. Apt has produced over 25 digital projects for some of the biggest names in publishing, media, the arts and business.
In 2008, Collingridge co-founded Enhanced Editions to drive innovation in publishing and to help shape the future of the book. Peter was named by The Evening Standard as one of London’s 50 most influential people in publishing, and was shortlisted for the British Council’s 2009 Young Publishing Entrepreneur of the Year.
He earned an MA in literature from Edinburgh University, and has delivered a number of Keynote presentations at publishing and digital conferences, from opening O’Reilly’s Tools of Change in New York 2010, to the NON-fiction fair in Moscow, to Madrid’s ANELE textbook conference.
