Mark Brokering

    Vice President, Content Strategy and Acquisition

    Mark Brokering joined Safari Books Online in January, 2008. He oversees Safari Books Online’s publisher relations and is the “curator” of the Safari Books Online library, identifying subscriber needs and acquiring content that meets those needs.

    Mark brings more than 30 years of publishing experience to Safari Books Online. Before joining the company, Mark worked for ten years at O'Reilly Media, where he served in a number of senior positions, including V.P. of Marketing and Sales and later Associate Publisher. As Associate publisher, he ran the consumer-books division, responsible for the Missing Manual series and all titles on digital-media topics. He was also involved in the initial planning and launch of Safari Books Online in 2001 and continued his involvement with Safari Books Online in its early years.

    Before joining O’Reilly, Mark held executive marketing positions at HarperCollins from 1986 to 1996. Prior to that, he served in various marketing and editorial positions at CBS’s Winston-Seabury Press (later purchased by Harper), AGS (now part of Pearson Education) and Meadowbrook Press. Mark earned his MA from the University of Minnesota and his BA degree from St Olaf College.
