Terminal Services Web Access

The Terminal Services Web Access feature lets administrators make Terminal Services RemoteApp-hosted applications available on a web page. Users can browse the list for the application they are looking for, select it, and then be seamlessly connected to the application. You can even integrate TS Web Access within SharePoint sites using an included web part, so users have access from their collaboration portal to various hosted applications.

Using TS Web Access is straightforward. By default, adding an application to TS RemoteApp, as we did with the Calculator earlier in this chapter, automatically makes the application available for users via the TS Web Access gateway. To check, open Internet Explorer and navigate to http://servername/ts. After authenticating to the server, you should see a RemoteApp Programs list with Paint populated in the middle of the screen. Clicking on it opens Paint, as you might expect. If you click Remote Desktop, you can automatically connect to any TS host to which you have access, much like the old /tsweb link in previous versions of Windows Server.

If you want to configure TS Web Access further, simply use the same URL as above, but authenticate using your administrator credentials, and then click the Configuration link in the bar at the top of the program list window.
