3.6 Developing WinFx Applications in Visual Studio with Development Tools for WinFx

Development environments can be highly specialized. While a graphics designer will want to use Microsoft Expression Interactive Designer for creating WPF applications, you won’t want to code your applications in that—you need Visual Studio for your work. However, you’ll still need to work with WPF interfaces as you’re creating the logic behind the designer’s form. It’s a frustrating waste of time and productivity for you to have to constantly switch from Visual Studio to Interactive Designer as you wire up the logic to the UI.

The Development Tools for WinFx extensions for Visual Studio solve this problem. These extensions to Visual Studio allow you to work with WinFx UIs as if they were standard Windows Forms or Web Forms.
