Customizes the behavior of the mouse.

To Launch

  • Start Settings Control Panel Mouse

Description

Mouse has four tabs on its property sheet. The key settings are:

Buttons

Switches between right- and left-handed operation, specifies whether to use single- or double-click to open items (see Folder Options in this chapter for another way of configuring this), and configures the double-click speed.

Pointers

Customizes your mouse pointer. Use a large pointer with a shadow to enhance visibility on laptops.

Motion

Customizes the pointer speed and acceleration. You can also cause the mouse to snap to the default button in dialog boxes if desired.

Hardware

Displays the drivers and resources for your mouse (same effect as using Device Manager in Computer Management). You can also configure mouse movement to bring the computer out of standby mode.
