Name

Licensing

Synopsis

Manages licensing locally on a server.

To Launch

  • Start Settings Control Panel Licensing

  • Command interpreter control liccpa.cpl

Description

Licensing opens a dialog box to:

  • Add or remove per-server client-access licenses (CALs) on the local server.

  • Change the licensing mode from per server to per seat (a one-time, one-way operation).

  • Configure the interval at which the local server replicates its licensing information to the site-license server.

Notes

  • If you plan to use Windows 2000 Server on a standalone non-networked computer, you can set the number of concurrent per-server licenses to zero.

  • Once a server is changed to per-seat mode, you add CALs using the Licensing console (see Licensing).

  • Licenses removed from a server can be allocated to a different server.
