Synopsis

Configure an incoming connection, create a new incoming connection, grant dial-in permission to a user, and monitor an incoming connection.

Procedures

The task of creating and configuring an incoming connection differs considerably depending on whether you are doing this on:

• A standalone Windows 2000 server that is part of a workgroup

• A Windows 2000 domain controller or member server that belongs to a domain

The main difference is that:

• Incoming connections on standalone servers are created and configured using Network and Dial-up Connections, which is opened by:

  Start → Settings → Network and Dial-up Connections

• Incoming connections on domain controllers and member servers are configured using the Routing and Remote Access console, which is opened by:

  Start → Programs → Administrative Tools → Routing and Remote Access
