Synopsis
Enable hibernation and manually enter hibernation.
Procedures
Use Power Options in the Control Panel to configure the actions or conditions that place your computer into hibernation.
Enable Hibernation
Start → Settings → Control Panel → Power Options → Hibernation → “Enable hibernate support”
To support hibernation, you must have free disk space greater than or equal to your amount of physical memory (RAM).
Manually Enter Hibernation
Start → Shutdown → Hibernate
This shutdown option is only available once you have enabled hibernate support as described earlier.
Notes
You can password protect your computer during hibernation by selecting Power Options → Advanced → “Prompt for password when computer goes off standby.
Note that the same password is used both for hibernation and standby modes.
Press the power button to resume Windows after entering hibernation. You don’t need to log on.
