Synopsis

Configure redirected folders, redirect all users’ folders to the same share, redirect each user’s folders to a different share, and redirect folders based on group membership.

Procedures

Folder redirection is implemented by Group Policy, so it is assumed for these procedures that you already have a Group Policy Object (GPO) opened in a console for editing (see Section in the article Group Policy Objects (GPOs) later in this chapter).

Configure Redirected Folders

Before you can configure the settings on a redirected folder, you need to redirect it. See the following procedures for how to do this. To configure a redirected folder:

If you want each user to have exclusive rights to his redirected folder, select Grant the user exclusive rights. If multiple users will be sharing the same redirected folder, clear this setting.

If you later unlink the GPO containing the folder-redirection policies from the OU where the users reside in Active Directory, you can specify whether to leave folders in their present (redirected) location or restore them to the local user profile for each user.
