Synopsis

Add a new UPN suffix for a domain, change the domain mode, create a new domain, and manage a domain.

Procedures

These procedures assume that you already have the Active Directory Domains and Trusts console opened. For related procedures see domain controller and trust in this chapter, and forest and tree.

Add a New UPN Suffix for a Domain

Right-click on Active Directory Domains and Trusts (root node in console) → Properties → specify an alternative UPN suffix for the domain → Add

Change the Domain Mode

You can change a mixed-mode domain to native mode, but not vice versa (unless you completely reinstall Windows 2000 on all your domain controllers). To change a domain from mixed mode to native mode, do the following:

Right-click on a domain → Properties → General → Change Mode

Create a New Domain

Manage a Domain

Right-click on a domain → Manage

This opens the Active Directory Users and Computers console with the focus in the console tree on the selected domain. You can use this console to manage users, groups, computers, and printers in the domain. For more information see Active Directory Users and Computers.
