DHCP relay agent
Synopsis
Configure a DHCP relay agent, and enable or disable it on a router interface.
Procedures
The procedures here apply when configuring a Windows 2000 Server computer to operate as a DHCP relay agent (not third-party routers). You must have Routing and Remote Access enabled on your computer to configure it as a DHCP relay agent (see Routing and Remote Access). The following procedures assume that the Routing and Remote Access console is already open.
Configure a DHCP Relay Agent
Select server node → IP Routing node → right-click on DHCP Relay Agent → Properties → General → specify IP address of DHCP server |
If you have several DHCP servers on the network, you should specify which one(s) can service DHCP clients on the subnet on which your relay agent resides.
Enable or Disable a DHCP Relay Agent on a Router Interface
Select server node → IP Routing node → right-click on DHCP Relay Agent → Properties → New Interface → General → select Relay DHCP Packets |
You enable the relay agent on each network connection or interface on which you want it to operate.
Notes
To view DHCP relay-agent statistics, select the DHCP Relay Agent node in the console tree and read the Details Pane.
