Continue to execute the named command
and optional command arguments after you log
out (make command immune to hangups; i.e., no hangup). In the C shell, nohup is built in. In the Korn and Bash
shells, nohup allows output
redirection; output goes to nohup.out
by default. In the Korn shell,
nohup is an alias that allows
the command it runs to also be aliased. (See Chapters 4 and 5.)
The Solaris /usr/bin/nohup accepts some rather specialized options; see the manpage for details.
