Summary

Structure plays a critical role in universal design because it gives each user and device enough information to present your content in a way that’s most logical to the user’s situation. It’s important to understand the semantic implications of each of the elements of your language of choice and use them as faithfully as possible.

Be aware that color is not perceived in the same way universally. Complications can arise with device capabilities, as well as issues with colorblindness or color deficiency. Keep this in mind throughout the visual design of the page so that problems don’t present themselves later on, and remember, don’t use color alone to indicate meaning.
