Ordering an Install Disk from Ubuntu

The easiest and most foolproof way to get an Ubuntu Desktop CD is to simply order one (or more) for free from Ubuntu; you don't even have to pay shipping or handling. Ubuntu will not only send you one install CD for your particular machine architecture, but they will actually send you one for each of the architectures they support: i386 and AMD64. In fact, you don't even get to choose which you want; it's basically an all-or-nothing deal, which in this case isn't such a bad thing. Of course, the only downside to this approach is time. It can take four to six weeks for you to get the CDs in this manner, so if you're impatient, you might want to opt for one of the other methods.
