Chapter 7. App Store

I will walk you through the process of submitting your application to the App Store. There have been numerous improvements to the iTunes Connect website since it was first introduced. The process has gotten a lot easier to submit an application, and now there are many automated checks that validate your submission immediately. The longest part of this entire process, outside of waiting for your application to get reviewed, is creating all the screenshots and coming up with a description of your application. Once that has been done, the actual submit process is very simple and won’t take long. I will also discuss things you can do after your application has been approved that will help drive more downloads. Before we get to that, I will walk you through submitting your first application.

Screenshots

I want you to take a few compelling screenshots of your application. You could do this using the iPhone Simulator on the Mac, but I find the easiest method is to use the device itself. Screenshots can be taken on the device by holding down the screen lock button and pressing the home button at the same time. You will see the iPhone screen flash and a photo of whatever was on the screen will be dropped into your Camera Roll. I suggest taking a lot of different screenshots, making sure to show the unique parts of your game. The first screenshot is the most important; it should be a good action shot from the game.
