Section 3: Getting Familiar with the A100's Exterior
The images in this section show the location and official name of all the parts on this camera. This should give you a solid roadmap to finding the feature you need when you need it.

Self-Timer Lamp
The Self-Timer Lamp blinks when the camera is counting down the seconds that elapse between the time you push the shutter button and the time when the camera fires. (Setting the self-timer)
Built-in Flash
The built-in flash serves three purposes:
It provides lighting for subjects at relatively close range (up to about 15 feet at ISO 200) when there isn't sufficient light to take a hand-held photo.
It provides fill flash when the available light is very bright and harsh.
It can be used to wirelessly fire off-camera and studio flashes.

Lens Release Button
This button is used when you want remove a lens in order to change it, store or carry the camera without a lens, or if you need to clean the sensor manually.
