The Missing Credits

About the Author

Figure 1.

Bonnie Biafore is the author of several books about personal finance, investing, and project management. As an engineer, she’s tenaciously attentive to detail and digests tantalizing morsels about every topic she approaches. Her sick sense of humor makes for entertaining, easy reading on subjects that are drool-inducing in other books. Her book the NAIC Stock Selection Handbook won major awards from both the Society of Technical Communication and APEX Awards for Publication Excellence, but she cherishes the raves she’s received from beginning investors. Bonnie writes a monthly column called WebWatch for Better Investing magazine and is a regular contributor to WomensWallStreet.com. As a consultant, she manages projects for clients and wins accolades for her ability to herd cats.

When not chained to her computer, she hikes in the mountains with her dogs, cooks gourmet meals, and practices saying no to additional work assignments. You can learn more at her Web site, www.bonniebiafore.com, and you can email her at . (If you need technical help, however, please refer to the resources in Appendix B.)

Acknowledgements

Writing a book is hard work but a great editor can make the hours and sweat tolerable. Thanks to Sarah Milstein for getting me through hard disk crashes and other inevitable crises, for making the work on this book fun, and, most important, for laughing at my jokes.

I also want to thank Debra Chamra for reviewing the manuscript and providing many great tips for making the most out of QuickBooks.

Of course, no set of my acknowledgements is complete without thanks to my husband for putting up with me while I work to meet book deadlines. I am not fun to be around when I’m writing a book, but he always handles it with aplomb. Just ask him. And finally, my special thanks go to our dogs, Emma and Shea, who graciously negotiated one walk a day for the duration of the manuscript.

The Missing Manual Series

Missing Manuals are witty, superbly written guides to computer products that don’t come with printed manuals (which is just about all of them). Each book features a handcrafted index; cross-references to specific page numbers (not just “see Chapter 14”); and RepKover, a detached-spine binding that lets the book lie perfectly flat without the assistance of weights or cinder blocks.
