Colophon

The animal on the cover of Node.js for PHP Developers is the Wallachian or Cretan sheep, which is found in Crete, Wallachia, Hungary, and Western Asia. Their horns are exceedingly large and twisted and their bodies are very strong—they are said to be extremely vicious and unruly. Their fleece is composed of a mix of wool and hair, which makes it long and silky, like that of a spaniel, and of great length, falling almost to the ground.

They are large animals with long, deep trunks. Their tails are long (60–65 centimeters), broad, and fat at the base, gradually narrowing toward the end. They are used for the production of wool, meat, and milk.

Their horns are their most striking feature. The first spiral turn is always the largest, and the horns are not precisely the same in every specimen. In the ram, they usually spring perpendicularly from the ridge of the frontal bone, and then take a spiral form. In the female, they protrude nearly at right angles from the head, and then become twisted in a singular way.
