Hiding Your Browsing from Others

To guard your privacy from others, lock your Macintosh away. If that's not possible, create separate accounts (see Project 16) to isolate your information from that of others. After clearing out Safari's history and cache, turn on Private Browsing to keep Safari from saving your browsing history. Here's how to turn on Private Browsing:

  1. Start Safari.

  2. Select SafariPrivate Browsing. A message appears, informing you that private browsing will keep Safari from maintaining its web page history, cache, or Google searches.

  3. Click OK (or Cancel).

Remember that privacy may not seem important until you lose it. By taking steps to protect yourself now, you'll stay on the safe side.
