Understanding Dialogs

A dialog typically contains one or more of the following items, as shown in Figure 3-6:

  • Buttons

  • Text boxes

  • Pop-up menus

Buttons can be clicked to open another dialog or to perform a single action. If a dialog displays multiple buttons, one button may be highlighted to identify it as the default button. To choose the command displayed by a default button, you can either click the button with your mouse or press the return key on your keyboard.
