Chapter 1. Turning Your Macintosh On and Off Manually or Automatically
You'd think that turning on your Macintosh would be easy—and it is. To turn a Macintosh on, just press the power button, which is usually located on the front or back of your machine, depending on the type of Macintosh you have. Once you've pressed the power button, your Macintosh should start up. If there's anything wrong with the hardware in your computer, such as a defective memory chip, it won't start up and you'll probably need to take it to a repair shop. (Unless you're a hardware expert, you probably shouldn't try to fix your own Macintosh because you could damage something and void the warranty.)
