Access eBay from a Cell Phone or PDA

Use a variety of tools designed to work on that tiny screen.

How many times have you been walking down the street, hoping against hope that you could bid on that beautiful crystal rooster you saw on eBay earlier that morning? Okay, it probably doesn’t happen that often, and if it does, you should really seek help. But isn’t it nice to know you can access eBay just about anywhere?

If your cell phone or PDA supports Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) web sites (also known as Wireless Web), select Go to URL (or something similar), enter wap.ebay.com, and click OK.

As shown in Figure 3-10, eBay’s WAP site lets you search, bid, browse categories, and manage your My eBay buying, selling, and watching lists, all from the tiny seven-line screen on your cell phone.

Tip

Test any WAP site from your Windows PC with the Klondike WAP Browser (available free from www.apachesoftware.com) or the Openwave Mobile SDK (from developer.openwave.com).
