The Real World

There are also some excellent resources that don't involve the Internet:

  • Popular Photography. Great magazine. The writing is fresh. The camera tests are scientific. The how-to articles are practical. Even the ads are enlightening. www.popphoto.com

  • Photo workshops. There's nothing like spending a couple of days in the field with a few other students, shooting spectacular wildlife or scenery and getting personalized, real-time feedback from an experienced professional. That's what you get when you sign up for a photo workshop. They take place in scenic places all over the world, from Montana or Florida to exotic international locations. You can find ads for these workshops in the back of photo magazines.

Note

If traveling for a couple of days is beyond your schedule/budget, don't forget that local colleges and adult-education programs usually offer photography courses, too.
