What You Will Need

To use the examples in this book, you will need a computer running Mac OS X Version 10.1 or later. You will also need a copy of the Mac OS X developer tools, which Apple currently distributes for free along with the Mac OS X operating system. The Developer Tools distribution contains everything you need to develop a Cocoa application, including the GNU Objective-C compiler (developed by both Apple and the Free Software Foundation), the assembler, the linker, all of the libraries, and all of the Cocoa header files. The Developer Tools distribution also contains Apple’s online developer documentation, although this information can also be accessed for free from Apple’s developer web site at:
