Chapter 2. Building an Application with PureMVC

Welcome to PureMVC Dojo.

There is a Way here. Not just a library and a packaging scheme, but also a set of conventions and wisdom pondered and accrued by the community in forums and workplaces over the last several years. This book will advise on process just about as often as framework usage. But remember, rules are meant to be broken. Like the framework itself, you can take or leave any piece of this holistic view, but it is all relevant to the goal of mastering PureMVC. The Way is not a dogma, nor is it a penultimate guide on how to do everything; just a few axioms that the advice on framework usage takes as given. If PureMVC developers are at least familiar with these concepts, then joining a new project is much easier for the new developer and the team since expectations are aligned about the basics. More time to focus discussion and effort on your actual use cases and less on ordinary plumbing.

Note that this book assumes no specification has been written and you have been charged with interviewing the client, determining what he needs from you, modeling his domain, and creating a suitable application for him. It assumes no particular development methodology is being used, other than iterative. With the approach described here, it is easy to build a limited functionality prototype and evolve it into the full working application.
