Thomson Netg To Expand Titles In E-Reference Libraries In 2004
The Thomson Corporation Family Of Publishers Are Leveraged To Significantly Expand Leading Online Books Library To Deliver High-Quality, In-Depth, Just-In-Time Learning
Naperville, IL, February 09, 2004 - NETg, a part of The Thomson Corporation (TSX: TOC; NYSE: TOC), today announced plans to significantly expand its e-Reference libraries, including exponential growth in its business and professional development library. Working with partner Safari® Books Online, thousands of new titles -- many from The Thomson Corporation's family of the world's most recognized publishers -- will be added throughout 2004.
Thomson NETg's line of Safari e-Reference libraries, known for the quality of its subject matter providers, will benefit from the many publishing companies that are part of The Thomson Corporation, which publish leading books on business, professional development, legal matters, and many other relevant and useful subjects. Together with already robust libraries covering IT and desktop software topics, NETg offers a comprehensive e-Reference resource that enables employees to learn in the moment and just in time.
"Once again, NETg is leveraging the global resources of The Thomson Corporation and the world's leading subject matter experts to deliver Open Learning that empowers employees to make significant impact within their organizations," said Joe Dougherty, president, Thomson NETg. "NETg's Safari e-Reference libraries offer a just-in-time learning opportunity for employees throughout an organization, and strongly complement Thomson NETg e-Learning courseware and Executive Education programs."
In addition to leading publishers already available in NETg's Safari e-Reference libraries, including Addison-Wesley, Financial Times/Prentice Hall, Prentice Hall and additional Thomson publishers include Thomson Course Technologies (including titles from Crisp Learning); Thomson South-Western; Thomson South-Western -- American Marketing Association (AMA); and Thomson South-Western TEXERE.
As an example, among the new content from Thomson is South-Western's College & University and Professional Books series. The new content comprehensively covers topics including accounting, finance and investments, business mathematics, economics and policy, office technology, taxation, business communications, business statistics, business law, decision sciences, business and technology, global business strategy, real estate and more.
For NETg's customers, Safari electronic reference is the only resource allowing real-time access to the most relevant books and their content. Clients can read texts from cover to cover or dynamically search to go directly to the page that addresses their specific question. Additionally, because both NETg and Safari Books Online are each owned by global publishers of highly respected reference texts, clients can be assured that as new or updated titles are authored, their Safari libraries will grow as well.
