Favorites Folders
Organize your Favorites! Create Folders for the titles you consult frequently. These custom lists will save you time and allow you to create your own custom library within Safari Books Online.
- Organize your favorite books and videos into Folders that you create and name.
- Handpick books to go into a Folder(s) or organize content based on a saved query ("Smart Folders").
- Drag and drop titles into Folders.
Shared folders, search results, and notes allow workgroup users to
network with other users about topics of interest, recommend content and discover additional titles favored by experts in the field. In addition, the “review this book” feature allows subscribers to comment on a book or write a complete review.
Notes and Highlighting
Hold that thought! Use Safari Books Online's Notes feature to comment on the electronic text.
- Attach a Note to a book or a page.
- Highlight text and attach a Note to that text.
- Create Notes in a movable layer right over the page you are reading.
- Organize, search and filter your Notes by adding Tags.
- Print your Notes and Highlights in a custom summary.
Find your place quickly when you use Bookmarks. One click on your Bookmark opens the book just where you left off.
- Dog-ear the page by clicking the upper right corner of the page or by clicking the Bookmark icon in the tool bar.
- Jump to any page with a Bookmark quickly by clicking the Bookmark record in the left navigation panel beside the book page. You can also click the Bookmark tab in My Safari or on the title's "cover page."
Categorize your Notes and organize your content with searchable Tags.
- Assign Tags to a whole book, to specific pages, or to your Notes.
- Search for content—books, specific pages, and Notes—you have tagged.
- Select from your frequently used Tags when creating a new
Note or Tag.
Create a custom document (auto-summary) from your Notes and highlighted text. Auto-summaries can be created in several ways.
- Select tagged Notes and Highlights from a combination of books across the library.
- Select content and Notes in an individual book.
- Print just text you have highlighted.
Interact with other members of the Safari Books Online community by adding Ratings and Reviews to titles – and reading those others have shared. (I think this is more focused on value to them, not us)
- Click the stars to rate any Safari Books Online title. Change your rating with another click.
- Learn from your peers: read Reviews posted by other Safari Books Online subscribers.
- Write your own Review and share with others.
Save useful search results for quick access, and discover additional
ways to search.
- Save any query and list of search results as a custom Smart Folder.
The results will refresh when you open the Folder.
- Search inside a book without leaving the page. View search results at the left and keep the book page open.
- Build a detailed search with the new Advanced Search form. Focus your search by adding a line at a time.
- Search within Folders you have created.
- Search using Tags you have added to content.
