Government Information Technology Users Get Enhanced Purchase, Procurement Ability from Safari Books Online's Extensive
On-Demand Digital Library

Safari Books Online, the leading on-demand digital library and a joint venture of O'Reilly Media Inc. and Pearson Education, today announced that the General Services Administration (GSA) has awarded Safari Books Online an Information Technology Schedule 70: Federal Supply Schedule contract number GS-02F-0162T. The Information Technology Schedule 70 was established by GSA to assist federal, state and local government agencies with their procurement of IT products, services, and solutions as needed to meet their agency IT goals and to offer the ability to negotiate pricing at pre-determined rates.

The five-year GSA Schedule contract was awarded on December 8, 2008, and will expire in 2013. Safari Books Online content will be available through GSA Advantage!®, the government's central online shopping superstore at www.gsaadvantage.gov.

Safari’s new GSA IT Schedule 70 award provides a streamlined procurement process for government clients to subscribe to Safari's on-demand digital library. The library is rich in exclusive content and offers a comprehensive range of digital book and video content from leading publishers including Prentice Hall Professional, O'Reilly Media, Addison-Wesley Professional, Microsoft Press, Sams, Que, Peachpit Press, John Wiley & Sons, Elsevier, lynda.com, IBM Press, Adobe Press, Cisco Press, Sun Microsystems Press, FT Press, Wharton School Publishing, among others.
